The Nourish Your Roots Fundraiser is back! Starting September 23, Nourish Your Roots boxes can be ordered from local participating schools.
Here are 3 reasons to support this farm-to-school fundraiser this fall:
#1 Nourish Your Roots helps schools sustain their own school healthy food programs such as breakfast, cooking in the classroom and school food gardens.
Well-nourished students are ready to learn, have more energy, and are less distracted by hunger. School healthy eating programs help children and youth learn to choose, grow, prepare and enjoy food that supports their health, community & the environment.
#2 You can donate a box to a Nova Scotia family in need or directly to the school you are ordering from.
During Nourish Your Roots Community, Nourish will organize the delivery of donated boxes through community organizations to Nova Scotia families in need of support—no pick-up necessary!
Boxes can also be donated during the Nourish Your Roots School Campaign and customers still have an option to donate boxes directly to the school they are purchasing from, which will be used for school food programming or distributed to families in their school community in need of support. Giving back feels so good!
#3 Who doesn’t love fresh, local veggies and fruit?
Each Nourish Your Roots box contains an assortment of 8-10 fresh NS-grown produce items, including a variety of root vegetables and potentially some fruit and/or herbs. Bringing home a Nourish Your Roots box creates an opportunity for kids to learn how the food they eat gets to their table, while directly supporting Nova Scotia growers.
About Nourish Your Roots 2022
The Nourish Your Roots Community online store closes midnight September 22, with 13 community delivery locations to choose from around the province! Boxes will be available for pick up between Oct 1-8, just in time for your Thanksgiving feast. Ordering is easy: simply select a location and date to pick up your box, choose the school you would like to support (or select “no preference”), and complete your order.
On September 23, 90 schools will be starting their Nourish Your Roots campaign, where customers pick up their box(es) directly from the school they ordered from. Contact your chosen school directly for ordering information.
