Yield: 6 servings
1-2 cloves Garlic
2 1/2 tbsp/40mL Olive oil
1 15oz/540mL can Chickpeas, drained and rinsed
3 tbsp/45mL Lemon juice
3 tbsp/45mL Tahini
1/2 tsp/2mL Salt
1 tsp/5mL Red pepper flakes
Add chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini and salt to a food processor. Pulse for 2 minutes. Scrape down the sides and add the olive oil and garlic. Pulse until smooth.
Transfer to an airtight container an store in the refrigerator.
Garnish with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes (optional).
Tips: Try dipping different foods in your hummus like your favourite vegetables. It goes really well with sliced bell peppers, carrots, celery, crackers and pita bread.
Don’t love garlic? No problem. Replace the garlic with a copped red bell pepper or omit it completely. Feel free to get creative!
